In a GoFundMe campaign launched on Friday, May 5, the team at Furvivors Wonderland Horse Rescue and Sanctuary in Chester Springs say they are scrambling for a short-term housing solution for their 16 horses and lone 18-month-old steer.
"This sudden notice of eviction is a hurdle we could not have expected, but rescue is never easy and we will not be derailed," wrote organizer Kristina Hall.
"These animals have been neglected, abused, and traumatized and it is heartbreaking that they will again be uprooted and their safety and security feel so tenuous," she added.
In the immediate future, Hall says Furvivors is calling on the local equestrian and animal rescue community to help house the animals.
"While our long-term design is to purchase our own farm where we can expand our rescue efforts, we are open to any number of options for the time being in order to keep our animals safe," she wrote.
Furvivors is also raising funds to help navigate the uncertain weeks ahead. The GoFundMe page seeks to raise up to $10,000, an amount that an unnamed donor has offered to match, Hall said.
"Your donation today will have double the impact," she noted. "We are committed to continuing our mission."
